- About Us
The Newland Group’s primary business since our founding in 1995 has been website design and construction and helping organizations establish an effective web presence.
Websites have become more sophisticated since 1995 and now often require custom applications and leading edge technologies to facilitate easy navigation by all visitors. The Newland Group has both the creative and technical expertise necessary for effective website design and re-design. Project management disciplines are applied to website design projects and we collaborate closely with client-partners to achieve their desired business objectives.
Depending on the project scope, our website design process may include some or all of these key stages:
Planning – Brain storming and documentation of requirements determines the information architecture, or high-level web site architecture that will form the basis of the website design.
Creative – This is a two step process. Conceptual design begins with wireframes which map interaction as defined by the business requirements. On approval we create layout prototypes which show the graphic design of the new site.
Technical – Once the prototypes are approved, the technical work begins. Our developers build pages using cascading style sheets, coding and scripting.
Quality Assurance – Regardless of whether we are building a straightforward static site, or one with complex dynamic elements, we perform a complete QA phase. The testing strategy and test cases are developed in the planning process, then executed and documented once development is complete. Should the QA process identify any necessary rework it is performed at this stage.
Documentation – Clients receive documentation on requirements, web site architecture, wireframes, process flow charts, layout prototypes, content mapping and website/web application inventory.
Deployment – Meticulously planned and carried out, our deployments are famous for minimal downtime and disruption to the user.
Ongoing Support – Although we budget a period of post-deployment support into every project, in reality our support team is available indefinitely. We can quickly escalate any issue back to development and higher if necessary.
Communication – Newland views its relationship with clients as a partnership aided by collaboration and ongoing communication. Communication begins with accurate collection and documentation of requirements. Regular communication with stakeholders and project team members is supplemented with written communication on both important milestones, and feedback received on product demos. Newland also takes the lead on managing changes in requirements, both during and after development begins.
